FAQ
Do you have experience working with adults? Most speech therapists seem to work with kids.
I have over 20 years of experience working with children, adolescents, and adults in the areas of pronunciation, voice, stuttering, aphasia, articulation and accent reduction.
Will we meet in person or virtually?
All sessions will take place virtually, on the Zoom platform. I will email you the link to our Zoom session prior to your scheduled appointment. You can join the session using a cell phone, tablet, or laptop.
Do I need a doctor's referral?
No, a doctor’s referral is not required.
Do you have a waiting list? How soon can we start?
There is no waiting list. The time to start is now! My goal is to schedule your first appointment within 2 weeks of our initial contact.
How long is each session?
Therapy sessions are 50 minutes long. However, your first session will be a 90 minute assessment.
Will you provide me with a home program?
Yes! The two main predictors of success in speech therapy are your motivation to improve and consistent home practice. I will provide you with specific strategies and exercises to practice at home after each therapy session.
What will we do during the evaluation session?
During our first session, I will ask you many questions to better understand your communication difficulty and how it impacts your daily life. We will discuss your concerns, and I will answer your questions. By the end of the session, I will be able to formulate specific communication goals which we will begin to address at your next appointment.
How many sessions will I need?
This is the million-dollar question! There is no definitive answer. The evaluation will take place during the first session, and then we will begin the treatment sessions. Let’s start with 3-4 sessions and then reassess the situation.
What are your fees?
My professional fees vary depending on the length and type of session. Give me a call and I will be happy to provide you with the details.
Which modes of payment do you accept?
Payments can be made by e-transfer on the day of your appointment.
Is speech therapy covered by Medicare?
Speech therapy fees are not covered by Medicare unless you receive therapy at a hospital or a CLSC.
Do you accept private insurance?
Yes. I will provide you with an official receipt for you to submit to your insurance provider. Be sure to contact your insurance provider to ensure that they cover speech language pathology services.
